MagPlay Decal Wall Compatibility Guide:

A very important step

Check your wall type

At MagPlay, we believe in helping you achieve the best results with our magnetic wall decals. Your paint type plays a crucial role in the adherence of our decals.

Paint Types that are not compatible with MagPlay Decal.

Stain Resistant Paint: Common globally, these paints resist dirt and stains, sometimes making it challenging for decals to stick. They are NOT compatible with MagPlay decal, our decal won't be able to stick on those surfaces without wall prep.

Air-Cleaning Paints

Textured Walls

Old/Cracked/Degraded Paintwork: Avoid using decals on deteriorating surfaces as sticking/unsticking may worsen the paint condition. Also the pressure of the decal will peel the paint and make the decal fall out.

Harder to Stick Paint Types/Brands:

While the following list highlights some of the more popular brands in Australia known for these types of paints, it's by no means exhaustive:

Dulux: A leading brand in Australia, Dulux has a range of eco-friendly and low-VOC paints.

Haymes Paint: An Australian family-owned brand offering environmentally-conscious paints.

Wattyl: Another significant brand in Australia, Wattyl also has a range of low VOC paints.

British Paints: While not originally Australian, British Paints is quite prominent in the market and offers a range of sustainable paint products.

Porter's Paints: Known for its unique finishes and eco-friendly paints.

Taubmans: Offers low VOC paints and is widely available in Australia.

If you are unsure about your wall type:

As a potential solution, we offer the option to add an MDF board to your order. This allows you to stick the MagPlay to the board and use regular frame strips to attach it to the wall.

Unfortunately, not all wall types are suitable for big wall decals and for those some prep or alternative adaptations are required.

Anticipated Issues:

Cosmetic Damages: Every space carries its own history, and occasional cosmetic damages may occur during MagPlay decal application or removal. The remedy? A touch of sanding and a repaint.

New Painted Walls: Exercise patience. Wait at least 30 days after painting before introducing MagPlay decals.

Addressing Damages: While occasional wall damages are a reality, MagPlay will not cover damages caused by decal removal. This is particularly important considering the unique nature of each wall (check our FAQ page for removal tips).
